It is soldered securely to a rectangle wire band that has a raised geometric art deco pattern. This band does have a slight texture to it because the geometric pattern can be felt, but it is not uncomfortable and I do not notice it when wearing the ring. However if you are sensitive to textures, this might not comfortable for you.
